Is this Mr. Gjullin? YES This is Mr. Martin. I accidentally wiped out your mail box with my combine a few minutes ago. THATS ALL RIGHT, YOU WERENT THE FIRST. IT WAS LOOSE FROM BEING HIT OVER THE WEEKEND. Well I am very sorry and will make it right.

So this morning on the way to the bus stop I notice that our mail box set on a buried steel post for the last 40 plus years, is not tipped over but gone

Poor farmer must have drug it all the way to the highway before he noticed. Good thing our names are on it!!

That is funny about your mailbox! But at least he was nice enough to tell you what happened! We see them all the time along side the road, but we live in "town" and it is off the road a little in the grass and we haven't had that happen. Although when hubby plows around it, it makes me a little nervous!

Texas, I'm so sorry about the girls' loss.
Tiffany...ouch! Hope that tooth gets in the rest of the way soon. Be careful, though. It might not be just the movement of the tooth that is hurting. It could be other problems. Don't let it go to long, no matter how bad it is going to the dentist.

The babies are doing well today. Sad note with a third that hatched. The mama had abandoned her nest. The eggs were cold for probably 12-18 hours and another hatched. Sadly, I didn't find that one in time and since she wasn't even sitting on them anymore she certainly didn't take care of it. I'd have never dreamed that one would hatch still, as long as she'd left them. I immediately put the rest under heat, just in case, but don't expect anymore to hatch, especially since the heat they are under is not really incubator conditions. I just wanted to ensure that if another DOES pop out of the shell, it has a chance at survival.
Actually, I'm not 100% sure that the one that hatched and didn't make it was "normal" anyway. It looked awfully scrawny.

I wish my replacement incubator would hurry up and arrive! Just stopped and called. Brinsea shipped it back yesterday. Due to arrive the 7th. I'm honestly NOT impressed with their customer service. Considering that I paid a heck of a lot of money for an incubator from them, and it was defective when I received it, they should have immediately shipped me a new one. Instead, they REPAIRED the one I had received and sent it back, and I lost nearly six weeks of possible hatching time. That means that if I hatch coturnix babies in it now, it's going to be AWFULLY late in the season when they hatch. I'll actually have to brood them inside because it will be too cold in the garage by then. Grrr. I'm also of the opinion that they should have paid for fast shipping both ways...)

Must run out for couple of hours but should be back on late this afternoon. If I miss anyone before ya'all run away for the weekend, then have a great labor day weekend. I'm sure I'll be around.

RENAISSANCE FAIR starts this weekend. Yippeeee. Gotta get out my costumes.
