Ever feel lonely when you dont have any PM's waiting for you?

Just went and measured. That room is 6x8 foot. The ceiling on the high end is about 8 foot. It has a little slope, so is probably 7.5 feet on the low end. I can fit 3, maybe four cages high in that...

It already has electric outlights, flourescent light (commercial type), and a small framed window, though it has a piece of plywood in it instead of glass. A ventilation fan could easily go into that opening.

The walls have some sort of easily washed bathroom type of wallboard. The floor is concrete with indoor/outdoor carpet. This "closet" was a changing room for the pool with the prior owners.

The one egg is still at pip stage. I know it's alive in there because I saw a beak try to poke the egg a half hour ago. I'm giving it til mid afternoon and then I "am" helping it.

The rain came in 3 days, 3 and a half inches one day, a few days later again and another inch+ a few days later. It is still pretty muddy around here. (hence the nasty football uniform!) I think the rivers are finally going down, but we did have a bridge collapse not far from us from all the water that is making country traveling a bear for some people. Yes, the ducks and geese were very happy in their mud pit!

You are MORE than welcome to send some of that my way. We have not had any rain in so long that the one night we did get some last week sounded so strange on the roof I kept forgetting it was raining and would go out to see what was going on!

The seeds are black unlike any other gourd or melon. If I had any I would send some to you. Have not grown any in years but all this talk of them makes me want to find some seeds. If I find some I will let you know.

That sounds like the perfect set up. I am anxious to see how it comes along. And if you ever have too many...

I am very guilty of "helping" when watching a hatch.

No rain in sight for us now. But, I will keep you in mind!

Now Tanya, I turn to you! About this wonderfully delicious mac and cheese I am going to create this afternoon...Approximately what consistency do I want my cheesy mixture to be? What temp do I want the oven on? I don't know how much cheese to add either, but when it looks cheesy enough, I will add more to be on the safe side!

*disclaimer--Most of my mac and cheese comes out of a box...*

Yeah, I couldn't take it anymore either. The oldest three REALLY needed to move to the brooder. The fourth was close enough that it was okay to move him. So, I moved those four over into a plastic file box lined with microfibers, set it in the sun in the sunroom (I have it REALLY warm in here today intentionally, for just that reason). Heck, I could have left them there all day. They were happy as larks in the sun there and not getting chilled at all. It's probably better than their brooder right now! (there were moved there promptly, of course).

Anyway, I went ahead and chipped a slightly bigger pip hole to make sure that the little bird had enough air. That seems to have reinvigorated him and he is moving about again. He'd have probably made it out just fine on his own but I had the incubator open. (For the record, the humidity dipped for only a few minutes and dipped to no lower than 55-60% anyway. Within a matter of minutes it was back to 70%. That's pretty amazing considering I only have water in one side of the well!)

It's working at making it's pip hole larger now. However, unlike the others, it doesn't seem to be trying to zip a circle around the shell. It seem to be trying to work on making one area bigger. The others pipped then zipped their circle within a half hour or hour. This one had pipped four hours before and hadn't been able to make progress since then.

It's the one with the largest egg. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Sorry you are getting so much rain. My son is trying to get sick also. Like I said, if we can make it through football...

I got my first egg from my spring ducks yesterday! I am not sure who the culprit is and it is small, but I was thrilled!!

Not a coffee drinker at all, I just can't bring myself to drink that stuff.

I totally agree about the coffee. Never have been able to drink and I have tried when I really needed to wake up lol.

I drink it first of all because I like it (duh) and second of all because I'm not a morning person... I'm a night owl

I would also rather stay up all night and sleep all day. I think I am going to bed "early" if I am there by 11!
