Thank you! Destiny came up with that. I was racking my brain too! So, the slower I cook it the better. Top with the cheddar cheese when it is almost done or as I put it in?

I wait until it is almost done to top with cheese, then it doesn't get too brown. You can also turn your broiler on for about 2 minutes to brown and bubble the cheddar. You are making me sooooo hungry

I used to like her but not anymore... At all...

9pm central time on Tuesday nights. They just had the Chopped Champions season finale this week. I did see a commercial that they are starting a new season of Chopped next week. The same time I believe.

I have a question bout my chickens and was hoping yall could help me. I did look in "managing your flock" first to see if this had already been brought up.
I am about to introduce 10 new pullets to my flock and every year when I do this, I forget who is who as far as age. Always like to give old hens away to my Mom's chicken retirement farm to let them live their lives out free ranging it. She just likes to have lots of chickens on her 36 acres and is not worried bout egg production like I am.
My question is, have any of yall ever tried using bands to keep them organized? My plan was to start putting them on all new hens and color code them by their hatch year. That way after about 3-4 years I can move them over to Mom's.
I tried looking them up on google but only got bands for game birds. I have seen them for sell in hatchery mags but it would be really helpful if any of yall had any advice as to which ones stay on the best and are better quality.

I think I'm going to order some for my quail. I want the numbered type. Coturnix quail are impossible to tell apart and that would make keeping track of gender and age a lot easier. I doubt I'll ever band the little buttons. I can't imagine getting them to hold still long enough!

Yes. That is a beanie baby turkey. I went digging through my things to find something soft for the babies to huddle against. The others have done so well that way that I decided to make this my normal practice for small batches of babies. Anyway, I saw that beanie baby turkey in my bin and thought it might work. However, I "really" didn't want to ruin that one. Oh well, it's going in. Later today, I dropped into a shop and picked up a couple of different ones for them, thinking I'd switch it out. NOPE, they weren't having ANY of that. They wanted their turkey mama back. Apparently, a beanie baby crab is less desirable than a turkey. I don't blame them.

Yes, it started out on it's side. I have it sitting up now...they don't care but it makes for cuter pictures.
