Ever feel lonely when you dont have any PM's waiting for you?

haha funny raccoon story, reminds me of one that happened to me when I lived on the Sound.
We used to live in Everett and here's one thing I bet you don't know about Seattle and Everett; our weather in Everett is the direct inverse of Seattle's. Meaning if Seattle has rain, we're boiling in Everett, and vice versa. Last year we were having a dry spell in Everett but it got really muggy one day. So I left my back door and front door open, and stayed up half the night since I couldn't sleep. I ended up sleeping on the couch with both doors wide open and most of the lights on. Thank goodness our neighborhood is relatively safe and I am a relatively light sleeper.
Get this, I had four cats and two dogs at the time; three longhair, one standard for the felines, and two doxies for the canines. I wake up to a mess of snarls coming from the back door area. I sit up and look from my living room to the back door. I couldn't see anything so I stood up and crept back there. Holy smokes!! I saw four of the biggest raccoons I have ever seen! Surrounding a mom and three (very large) juveniles picking at my cat food dish, all four of my cats and my doxies too. My longhair cats are notorious for being the Goddesses of the house and the doxies are content with just being Queens, but I had never seen them work in concert before. The doxies ran them out the house, and the cats would stand there making sure they didn't go deeper into the house. WOW!
Needless to say, Animal Wildlife got called since we lived in surburbia at the time and they removed and relocated them. I haven't since slept with the doors open. I think maybe I learned my lesson

Did anyone take pics? Seriously, sorry about losing some of your chickens! We have had a few coons around, but luckily none have gotten into the coop. And I am pretty sure I don't have a cat on the premises that would get up off their duff long enough to chase a coon! I have learned not to feed the cats after dark, we have had a coon, possum and other creatures wander on the porch for that. The bright side is that your day should only get better from here on out!

I bring Baby Kitty on the back porch at night and keep her locked in. Her mama disapeared about 2 mths ago and since then, I have been keeping a close eye on her at night. My DH is going out of town today and won't be back until tomorrow. I am going to have to set the trap again tonight and deal with what ever happens in the morning. Oh, the joys and wonders of country living! I can't let those coons keep terrorizing my poor peep pees and I have seen another coon lurking around so I know we have more. Michelle, get your poor fish a girlfriend!

He has eaten his goldfishy friend, an albino frog, and 2 sucker fish, so I have given up on giving him a friend!

Wow, mydnight..I think cats and dogs just want us to think they don't get along. But when it counts they join forces! Good thing you had help. They could have tore up the place!

I love the great outdoors, but as long as it stays outdoors and out of my yard!

I had been trying to leave them alone until they got bigger since Mama (creative, huh?) gets so nervous when they are small. But after all the demo in the bedroom while they were in there, I just had to get them out and play with them before I moved them to safety and he just melted my heart! His name is Truman- named after the MU Tiger mascot. I think the 2 black ones will be Spoon & JMac or Ziggy, haven't quite decided yet. She usually only has black or yellow kittens, she is pretty devoted to her man Pocono. We already still have 3 of her black kittens and one yellow one left!

Baby kitty is a nice name. One of our favorite old yellow toms was named Baby! Just as a recap for me (&you) we have Mama, Pocono, Oliver, AC/DC, Johnny, June, Odie, Bridgette (the stray), Zee (the new one) and the 3 babies. I don't think I left anyone out!

Ok..I am copying this so my DH can see other people have more cats than me. (Baby kitty's mother was named Mama Kitty) We have 5 kittys, Princess, Rajah, Serabi, Cowboy and Baby Kitty. I love cats but our place is small. Baby kitty stays outside and Cowboy goes in and out. The other 3 stay inside. Aren't kittens the cutest!?

Yes, I love kitties! Ours are all mostly indoor/outdoor. Mama, Zee and the babies are the only ones I let in pretty much right now. Odie shows way too much interest in the babies, so I don't trust anyone right now. And Zee, although tiny, she stands at the door and scares everyone off anyway! Normally though Odie will sleep with me, June used to but I guess she didn't like the way I slept! Johnny would sleep with Des until she got her loft bed, now he is mad and just stays out. Oliver (a beautiful white long haired girl) is the only one allowed to stay in the garage per my husband! Once in a while Pocono gets to come in because he is so old and banged up and also Destiny's original "baby". Bridgette sleeps in a converted rabbit hutch with straw in it on the porch and even after over a year is still not convinced that we won't just totally beat her up, so she hangs around, expects food, but good golly just don't touch her! Everyone comes and goes so much that every once in a while I have to just go out and take inventory to see who is still around or ask "has anyone seen so and so for a while?" I am fearful that my darling long haired yellow/white male Jenny is gone. I haven't seen him for a few weeks now. No, my husband is not at all happy with the cat population (except precious Oliver) but he has learned to live with it like all the other animals we have!

Good Morning!! Caught another coon last night. DH will be proud of me. I did it all by myself! I think that is all that is around the farm but I'm going to set the trap again tonight just incase. I've got to go pull weeds this morning before it gets hot.
