Chickenchick -- I'm thinking they would need a "headstart" where you are. They are a pretty long day item. It's something like a 150-180 day growing season. I'm not sure how they would transplant, but you could always try to start them inside in a bright window in a LARGE pot.

The things love hot, muggy weather with plenty of rain. I would literally see a foot of growth some days. It was amazing to watch them tear down fences with their weight! (You better believe I planted fewer the next year.) We're talking welded wire fencing with tposts every 3-4 feet! They actually pulled it right down. They even weighted down chain link.

I had a fine evening. Hurricane Matthew is beating us with rain and I have a cold. The chicks are unhappy cooped up and I think our goose wants to come out and lay an egg in the front bed...

The only bright side is that I'm eating a homemade Mocha

I got my first egg from my spring ducks yesterday! I am not sure who the culprit is and it is small, but I was thrilled!!

It's good, because we were in a really bad drought... But it's getting old. When does football end for you?

We have had tons of rain lately, we had like 8 inches last week alone.

I have Frank, my original duck. He is a rouen mutt I think. His friends are a pekin, black cayuga, Khaki Campbell and a runner. I think 3 of them are probably girls, but I am still not sure on the sexes of them. The egg was just a small white one.

I may or may not go on Sunday. I have company coming sometime tonight. If they leave Sunday morning, which was the original plan, then I may go to Ren Fair Sunday afternoon for a couple of hours. If they are still here, then I'll stay home. I may end up too tired to go anyway! We have over two tons of firewood to unload while they are here. (They are hauling it to me.)
