On a serious note though-your neighbor is a ding bat for letting that happen--if you take them ask her for all the feeders and waterers to go with them since you are not going out to buy new ones-oh and any food she has left over to help for hte first week or so Thats just me I would. You dont needa heated coop as long as your building is free of drafts and its a shelter with lots of hay on the ground for warmth they should be fine--slather vasoline over combs to prevent frostbite and walah a new laying flock-these gals could turn out to be real sweeties and get along great with yours???

and THEY ARE FREE!!!

It has been over a week since anyone has come out of there. I can't add more than 3 at the very most and I wonder about them getting picked on being the newbies and the others having "coop fever" already. Any opinions? Oh and can you have just 1 duck and what would I do with it right now?

I have a good idea--off the roosters... take on the new hens if they are under a year old ( since yours aren't laying much these days)and the duck should do fine I had my lonely duck for a year with all my chickens-did great TellKenny you dont know how you missed undercounting all those chickens but they must have been there from the beginning! haha if you add them add them all at once-not a few at atime as this will keep upsetting the order of things. problem is do know the conditions in which her chickens were kept? healthy and all? Id be worried about getting your chickens sick:-(

Nat is right, add them all at once so they will have "friends". She also brought up a good point about them being healthy. I have seen people on here lose their whole flock due to bringing in new birds. Something to think about...

hey how do think I get some things I want...My DH has never said no to me about buying anything except birds! He knows I do teh finances and would never buy anything that is stupid or will cause the electricity to go out..LOL There's alot of word re-arranging when I want new eggs to hatch?? Shoot right now I have 9 eggs under a brooder to "test" my BLRW eggs hahaha wallah mess isnt in house he's all good. He LOVES baby chicks so he never says no to that unless its hatching in the house!!!
