Elizabeth - What a beautiful little one you have! I can image having a "big brother" in the house can be a slight challenge. Though I'm happy he takes the role of big brother serious, my 4 older sisters were quiet annoyed with me from the day I was born.

KellyHM - Congrats! Keep us posted once Tolbunt eggs are ready for purchase!

Texasgal - Lovin' the trees....

San - See this hatching experience as a learning curve, patience is key to everything.

Yesterday was a really saddening day. Because of our moving many items are needed to be sold or given-away, one such item was my Black-faced Yellow mutation Lovebird hen and my dear Parakeet cock. Penelope (the lovebird) has been with us form the age of 6 months. Bought from a inhumane pet-shop which paid no attention to hygiene, she was classified as a rescue. After being nursed back to health and being in quarantine for a period of time, she was allowed to join the flock. Her visit was quickly delayed, something was killing off my other mutations of Lovebirds, unfortunately I lost my whole collection. Penelope was the only one left, she and her mate (which was also a rescue) Milo were placed in a newly refurbished Lovebird cage (6ft x 5ft). Three years passed, and behold a egg was found in their nest! Another was laid shortly after, and another...the grand total of 6 eggs! Day number 15, caused me to worry, warm temperatures were to hit our area, I discussed this matter with my DM and DF, both agreed that the heat should affect the birds too much. That day we left to attend a church meeting, Milo died that day of heat-stroke, I found him still sitting on the eggs. Penelope was very saddened......2 years later I had to give her away.....I truly hope she'll find a good home.

Ah am sorry to hear about rehoming the birds.

Your are right about the patience but this is the 3 time that my hatch is going not well all happens after day 18...Today is day 21, no sounds, no peeps nothing.

Before lockdown I had 5 active chicks in the eggs. And now at hatching day nothing. A am going to wait for a few days but I am wondering what is going wrong then?

I could cry really, today would be hatching day but as I suspected nothing, now this is the third time that it's going wrong after lockdown. I called Brinsea today and the lady on the phone couldn't understanded either. Specialy not because it's the 3th time with different eggs. She adviced me to wait for 12 hours and then open them up, however I want to give it another 24 hours. If they are dead in the shell then she adviced me to bring the bator back to the store so they can send it back and see what's wrong with it. I just can't figure out what going wrong everytime after lockdown. The temp is right, humidity is right ( been testing that with a digital meter) I don't open the bator accept for a quick refill.....this is so frustrating 3th time in a row...
