I have 5 silkie chicks ranging from 9 weeks to 4 month I got about 3 weeks ago. I have one lone silkie chick that I hatched that I introduced to two of the smaller chicks I got. Everyone has been getting along fine I put them in a cage together but split it down the middle 3 on one side and 3 on the other so everyone could get use to each other and then I could remove the middle fencing and put everyone together. Well my hen just hatched out 6 chicks a couple of days ago and I needed to remove my rooster he does great with the chicks but with there being so many chicks and not enough room he was stepping on them so I moved him I put the 3 chicks in with the other chicks on the other side of the fence. I figure its not alot of room for 6 chicks but I figure it be good for winter being 6 together to keep each other warm. I will add to there cage when spring comes. I put my rooster on the other side of the fence and everyone is getting along time. The 6 chicks are not fighting everyone is getting along the rooster likes his new cage to wonder around and eat the grass and my hen and chicks are doing very well no one is getting stepped on and the hen seems more calm now that its just her and the chicks. So i am so happy everything worked out like I hope'd and everyone is where they will be till spring of 09! LOL sorry just had to brag i was so excited everything worked out like I wanted it to be. I was afraid my rooster would be lonely but since he can see the chicks in the cage next to him he isnt so lonly but he can not pick on them. So everything worked out perfect!

i guess you could say too good to be true. I thought everything was going good i went out tonight and one of the older chicks was pecking on one of the younger chicks. I saw she was bleeding so i removed her. I placed her in a pet taxi tonight so it was too good to be true looks like ill be doing more work then i planned on doing! [IMG]
