everyone warned me about roosters . . .

I would cull him, it's just not worth the risk. He could seriously hurt your child. He doesn't look that old, so he might just keep getting worse, and the bigger he gets the more damage he will do.

I remember my Mom getting flogged by a rooster when I was a young child. She was bruised from shoulder to ankle. Rooster was chicken soup or dumplings. Can't remember which, but he was definitely not around anymore. What if your roo did that to your little girl? You'd never forgive yourself and she'd be afraid of chickens and maybe scarred. I had a roo attack my hens (4 in a month) and followed the advice of many senior chicken lovers and got rid of him. BTW, your daughter is beautiful! Your birds are too!

Roos are roos and testosterone flows, whoever recommended that you get a silkie roo for her never met Stewie-

The meanist Roo in my flock, he beats up on my RIR roo and sends him running!

Your best bet is to get rid of the mean guy and get her a docile hen. I was afraid of chickens for years because of a beating I took from a rooster at her age. Not worth keeping him around.

I know how hard it is...my one and only roo, "Mr. Bubbles" has his own condo next to the hens and my girls (Kids) are not allowed in there. He has always been friendly but I am not taking that chance...I love them all and just want to do the justice for everyone involved.

What breed is Stewie? He does not look like a pure silkie? My silkie roos are great, but so are all my boys so far. Thank the lord.. Your daughter is a cutie.. I wish you the best.
