Everything Easter Egger

I’d like to add to this thread. I love Easter eggers. They were the first birds my husband and I bought when we got married!
Since then, I’ve gotten some game hens, and one of them hatched out this little guy. He is an Easter Egger mix (based on the beard and green legs), but I’ve never seen this coloration before. Isn’t he neat?
Gorgeous. From the side he looks like has a vultures head lol. Mean that in a nice way. Aren't their beards and muffs the best!!!!

Just started getting some colored eggs!! Top 7 eggs are from my New G's over past week. Bottom bigger ones are my OG's. So flipping excited! Lol I guess as you get older the simpler things in life do make you happy 🤗

We've had three EEs, two extremely friendly and people oriented, following me around the yard, allowing me to pick them up at will, the third one not at all. Purchased them as pullets, two red and one all white without any coloring, were told they were all Ameracauna something, farmer didn't know. I have since read where they can be prone to medical issues. I can attest to that as we've had issues with all three; two are deceased, one from a bad heart, the second developed severe neurological issues and couldn't use her left side at all - vet verified - the third thriving but have dealt with just about everything in the book with her. We go to great lengths to keep our coop sparkling clean, the hens healthy, high quality feed and treats, supplements, fruit, healthy greens and it's been nothing but frustration for us and them. I like the EE personality but ensure you purchase from a reputable breeder.

Forgot to mention, we've had nothing but brown eggs, no green, no blue, which is ok. We were either misled and told they were EEs or they were mixed with something that only lays brown eggs. It's my understanding the color of the egg has no bearing on taste. They are all delicious.

Very unique indeed! Are you sure that is a cockerel, though? It looks pretty much like a pullet, however the pictures are blurry so I am not able to see whether the feathers are rounded or pointed.

Yesterday I got my first EE eggs! Today I got a 3rd one so far. Exactly at 2 weeks from seeing the first pullet do the squat to getting an egg. Definitely a little small, but nice coloring and hard shell. My husband ate them and said tastes like egg. :gig

Okay- maybe a quick question - lol- I am looking to breed some fun hybrid Easter eggers. I have some MF/maybe "calico"(bad MF 😒lol) Serama x d'uccle mixes but I also have a blue maybe splash true Ameraucana bantam (not show quality definitely pet quality) roo. I was wondering what might happen if I crossed him with the red MF Serama x d'uccle mixes? I also have a Barred silkie x d'uccle mix and from what I understand the Ameraucana with her would make blue sex link Easter eggers?

I also have a blue polish rooster, some recessive white silkie showgirl roosters, blue and a red silkie rooster, a mottled houdan rooster, and several black silkies, satins, and satin show girls, and a some chocolate silkies. Lots of options. I'm looking for something fun. I like decent production and mottled birds.

Wasn't sure if any of you might be aware for some already happening Easter egger hybrid projects that I might be able to start?

I don’t have any Easter Eggers but I am hopefully getting chicks this year! Are they friendly and cuddly or more skittish? I know part of depends on how you raise them but I’ve only raised chickens that are supposed to be really friendly so I’m not sure! I would love to see some pictures of yours too!
Gorgeous babies there! I got several (they move around so much you can't count how many... That's my story and I'm sticking to it lol) Hoover American's, Sapphire Olive Egger's and Sapphire Gems this spring. All of the hens are love bugs! The gems are a tad more standoffish when reach for them. The other two wait in line for me to pick them up. In fact one of my Sapphire Olive Egger hens (yes they have started laying already) will not like waiting and shell fly up on top of the hen I'm holding, or to my shoulder. I've decided on 2 roos each from Americana and olive eggers that I'm keeping and been messing with them more then the other freezer camp ones. While not as lovely as the hens they let me pet them and will let me pick them up for short periods of time and pet. Not sure if I lucked out or if this is common with EEs.

Good to know! Wasn’t planning to get more chickens but then all my chicks turned out to be boys! 😂 So thinking of getting some more! Chicken math is very very real 🤣🤣🤣
