Everything Easter Egger

I don’t have any Easter Eggers but I am hopefully getting chicks this year! Are they friendly and cuddly or more skittish? I know part of depends on how you raise them but I’ve only raised chickens that are supposed to be really friendly so I’m not sure! I would love to see some pictures of yours too!
Being a mixed breed, Easter Eggers have no set personality and it can be all over the board. Some are aggressive and flighty, some are sweet and cuddly, it depends on what you get.

Hi @EEforMe ! Checking your thread.. I have one chicken who lays blue eggs, she technically is a cream legbar, I don’t know if that counts. We were supposed to be getting 2 more OE s, and the lady even showed us the eggs they supposedly lay… we now get 2 more brown eggs…
Legbars are a recognized breed, not a mix of random genes like Easter Eggers are, which means that Legbars cannot be counted as an Easter Egger. To be an Easter Egger, a chicken needs to have a mixed heritage, carry the blue egg gene, and have at least one Ameraucana ancestor in their lineage.

They can be legbar crosses to be EEs. They do not have to have one Ameraucana parent or one in the lineage. Legbars do infact have Ameraucana in them.

I thought as long as it had a blue egg gene it was and Easter egger. I understand if legbar don’t count, but maybe instead of Americana can’t they have, say, araucana?
Not very educated in this subject, since I mainly focus on pure breeding and incubation!

All they need is the blue egg gene. That's what I was trying to get at in that post. The cross doest have to have Ameraucana in it at all, but I also wanted to point out legbars have them way back in the mix.

what breed do you this she is
any ideas???

Lol, legbars before they got accepted where EE at some point in the development. Quick note so where Ameraucana and all others accepted into the standard started as mutts or backyard chickens. Someone saw beauty in a color or trait and spent a great deal of time getting it to bread true.
