Are you a soldier?
I did 4 years active duty in the U.S. Army, and have been out for about 10 months and am in the process of (re?)enlisting in the nat'l guard.
Americas drug policies are horrible. Right now the only country getting it right is Portugal. They have seen a decrease in all drug use among their populace including teenagers. The only way to get drugs out of reach of children is make it hard to access them. Minors can't buy from a cannabis dispensary but they can get it off the street while it is illegal. Prohibition didn't work for alcohol. Only made more people use it and gave organized crime more power. People think if you make it illegal it cleans up the streets, but it is actually the opposite.
With 55% of people in jails for drugs then that is a waste of tax money.
In my area these are drug dealers. There is a place with 3 guys living in it near my sons' girlfreinds house that have med pot cards and are getting a dispensary card. Every weekend night there is multiple vehicles parked there and they are the same vehicles parked in the high school student parking lot.Americas drug policies are horrible. In cases like that I would punish the people abusing the system but I wouldn't make it illegal. We have a couple alcohol and tobacco places that sell to minors but that is a very low % of them and its usually not the whole store just one bad employee. In my area these are drug dealers. They needto punish, and I mean hard labor not 3 meals and exercise equipment, the dealers not the users. The users are easier to catch.

The point I was talking about is that they are NON VIOLENT crimes involving drugs. That is when we have a problem.I agree with most of what you said, but that last line was just dumb. If 55% of people in jail were child molesters then we should change the laws ?
