There is ash everywhere here. I just drove an hour to salem and donated supplies to the fair grounds. The sky was red that whole time. I feel safer for my animals that our farm is not too close to any fires now! But my parents house is. I am staying here just in case they need help. You can see the fire burning down the trees on the mountain its so close. Our community has been amazing in helping each other. Cowboy 911-oregon is now cowgirl 911-oregon if anybody can help! Supplies are what is really needed. Pens and cages for live stock. Feed and bedding! The fairgrounds are full of refugees and the animals need basic supplies! Even leashes or leads and halters are useful! Old tack and feeders. Alot of people couldn't grab that kind of stuff

I wanted to say thank you for donating. My family is overwhelmed and grieving for our home and animals but the outpouring of kindness from volunteers at the fair grounds has been a blessing.

Yes, I read on CNN that most (almost all except for 2 that are still being investigated) of these wildfire clusters were caused by lightning. Have you guys had storms recently?

So far (knock on wood) we’ve been far from any fires. I have five acres that have fifteen head of cattle and 4 horses that aren’t mine. Unexpected hay load..... but I can’t turn away neighbors in need.

I just hope you know that won't be sustainable.

A single cow needs a whole acre to sustain itself from grazing. And you have like 4 times that.

It is nice that you are helping out. And I'm not disagreeing with you.

I just hope that you don't leave it that way very long, or it could put you in trouble when your acreage is all overgrazed.
