Evolution of the Chicken Master Plan!

The chickens will be getting some new friends tomorrow - so the tale will go on! Also we have more chicks on order for july, and will be working on the trailer coop, so I will chronicle that as well. So glad there are a few people enjoying it :)

Chapter Seven: Neighbors!

The chicken mama was having a hard time waiting until the new pullets arrive in July. And there were several breeds that hadn't been available! Grrr.

But she found the perfect classified ad on BYC - chicks of two of the breeds she wanted, around the same age as the ones she already had, and within a few hours drive! So her DH, accommodating as ever, separated the run into two sections, and drove his chicken crazed wife three hours each way to get three little chickens:

So a pair of salmon faverolles and a *hopefully blue orpinton pullet move in next door to the feathered kids. The long lost cousins they never knew they had. Everyone is very curious!

Side note - you can't see it in the photos, but we added some orange string in a criss cross pattern on top of the run to discourage flying predators. We haven't seen hawks, just turkey buzzards, but we definitely have owls, and the buzzards make me nervous!

Next chapter - the neighbors foreclose on their dog kennel and move in to the coop!
