OK I might have pointed it out to them, so they could see it more easily. But I didn’t encourage them to eat it… I just said here it is.

Yes it is fine. They will also eat mice,squirrel and roadkill. I discourage the roadkill.

My chickens follow me and dad around while we are weeding watching for 'treasures' like this, snails, and worms. Chicken loyalty --> +1

You’d think it be one of the big fat old roosters, but it’s not—I think it is the hen at the bottom of the pecking order. Go figure

Ha! they'll eat any wiggly thing, I've seen mine chase each other down for that half swallowed lizard.... poor guy, quick death though. They've also literally pitch forked , tore apart and swallowed a small glass snake, was not witness to that one.. My son was both disgusted and in awe of how savage they can be.,

A few years ago I remember watching my ducks as well as a couple chickens help my grandmothers blind cat chase a mouse through the grass The chickens have also found a screaming toad before. Though mostly if the birds find and eat something gross it’s the Ducks.
