So my daughter was living with a boy for 2 years. He was a total loser, and i told her that much. She made alot more money then him, paid all but the cable bill, and he would sit and play video games for hours at a time. He refused to go after upper management postions at their place of employment. He has been employed there for 4 years. She gave him a deadline, of Nov. to do something, anything, she wanted to go back to school, but couldn't with her paying all the bills.
So he did something, he took everything she bought and paid for out of her townhouse, everything, from big screen TV to the mop bucket, while she was at work.
She took him to small claims court, and the Judge said,"Guess you won't play house with another guy."
The guy's brother is also on the police force there and was there in court.
It seems funny to me that she kept all receipts, but the case was dismissed.
This was in Guilford County, NC.
I think I will pay the money and pay for a lawyer, if i can't get more answers than," i guess you shouldn't play house.

OMG that is terrible. That judge was probably some old fart who believes women should be barefoot and pregnant.

The judge doesn't play around and there is no "oh I guess you shouldn't play house"


HATE men like that! My mom was abused just the same way and she lost. Your daughter has proof of purchases and everything, there is no excuses why she lost the case.

Well, the judge said he was teaching her a lesson, and I guess he did, don't depend on Justice System to work, it is on the Judge.

Trying to find a bright spot...I say tell her to let it go, go on with her life, and thank God that she got this message BEFORE 5 years of marriage and 2 kids with the deadbeat.....

Look at it as the best money she ever spent to learn that lesson and learn it well :-(

That is awful. I hate hearing stories like this, its so unfair. I believe in karma, he will reap what he sows.
I know that doesn't comfort your daughter right now though.
It sounds like his brother hooked him up in court, she had reciepts and the judge just says too bad so sad. Not right.

I am so more mad than she is, I think she is just happy to get rid of him, for the last few months, she has been saying he just sits there and play videogames online, that he won't go with her to the dog park or just for a walk, he was just "do it by yourself"

Did she file a police report for theft? I am wondering if that is the way to go with this.
