excuse me, please

Just make sure to wash the people stains off your tires when you get home.

Problem solved.

Pedestrians on most roads do not have the right of way, only when they are in crosswalks. Other than that it's called jaywalking. Unfortunately it's still illegal to hit them.

Not sure what state you hail from but here, people in the road have the right of way - whether they should be there or not. To be honest, if I was walking across the street and you were in such a hurry to get past me, that you had to swerve? That would be a strong indication that you are traveling too fast.

I understand that the pedestrian has the right of way all the time in the road. I have no problem waiting for someone to finish crossing the road. It's people casually walking down the road that won't scoot over that bother me. I mean they are a few feet from the side of the road, they turn around and see me coming, then just keep walking and stand their ground. I mean, really? You can't move over three feet?

And I wasn't going that fast, you can't on the particular road I was traveling on. I just get irritated that people have no common courtesy anymore.

When I was little, we were taught to look both ways, and only cross the street if it was safe to do so (no cars coming)

Yesterday two teenagers at the park who were on the sidewalk to begin with, saw my truck coming and marched out into the street right in front of me. THAT is just STUPID!!!!! I don't know what has gotten into people thesedays. It's not like there was heavy traffic, 30 seconds later and the street would have been clear of cars.....

However, parking lots are a whole nother ball of wax. My boss was walking from our store to the bank, they have a connected parking lot so it's not like he had to cross the street or anything. He said somebody almost ran over him - came so close that he ran his finger down the side of their truck!!!!!!!! You shouldn't be driving that fast and careless in a parking lot!

I think I am having a difficult time understanding what it is that makes people think it is ok to walk down the middle of the street. I remember telling my son, look both ways, hold your friends hand, stay on the sidewalk. Isn't that the reason there are streets for cars and sidewalks for pedestrians? Can you imagine the mass state of confusion if everyone thought it was perfectly ok to walk down the middle of the street?

Cars driving down a street such as Bear Valley Road near me, not a chance in the world are they thinking of watching for pedestrians walking down the road. I don't expect it on my street either. Most of the time, they move when they hear me coming, fine. It is when they actuall SLOW DOWN and then flip me off because I am trying to turn left and they are standing in the turn lane talking to each other.

I had an adult do this one day at a church I was passing. I assumed he was going to stop at the mailbox. He didn't, kept right on walking in my path. I had to seriously swerve for him. And as for parking lots....hate hate hate them! People drive across instead of up and down the lanes, cut through, speed...they are very dangerous.

There is also the law of a perceived crosswalk, where none exists and the pedestrian is crossing from a corner to the other side of the street that has no corner. I am SOOOO ok with people crossing the street, even jaywalkers, especially here where one crosswalk to another is a good mile or more.

Its the walking down the middle of the street that chaps my hide.

I start work at 7am - It is currently still dark as I drive to work- This morning there was a very thick fog as well...... I noticed there seemed to be less cars on the road... There was nearly one less jaywalker dressed in black- The guy actually ran out to cross the road in front of me... I had to slam on the brakes to miss him....I wonder just what kind of idiot does that kind of thing in those kind of conditions. I will also add- that 40 metres away is a painting crossing with flashing lights that gives pedestrians right of way.

this is what scares me--driving thru wallyworld parking lot, approaching the crosswalk at the exit doors and counting the parents with children-small children-who never stop to look both ways, who never slow down to look and never TEACH the child that important step in crossing a roadway, parking lot, etc. So flash forward-child wants to cross road and has never been taught this life saving commonsense lesson....have parents forgotten how to teach the lessons we all were taught???
