Expanding Chicken Feed.

Morning. It's highly unlikely that finishing off your feed mix will do any harm. There are ways to stretch feed or manipulate a base mix into different feeds, but it takes a bit of math. I'd have to do some digging to find out why, but in combination or alone barley and/or oats should not exceed 15% by volume of the feed. Here is a good starter book about feeds.

This is what I do....I do not feed layer at all...I feed Grower all year around to my Birds at 18% protein..Not organic because to me it's all hype..That's another topic though..
I supply oyster shell in a Separate bowl ...I have extremely healthy Birds and zero issues..I free range daily maximum two hours and rarely give treats...

Ok. Thanks!

Alright everyone, I have received y'all's message:
I will measure and do math when I expand my feed. I didn't mean to start a debat or argument. I appreciate all of the information that I have been given. Thanks all!

Debate is healthy I think we can all pick up good information. Everyone on this site seems to have the welfare of our feathered friends in mind in the end :love
