Leave him be. If there is blood he can go another day and be okay. If you take him out now he will bleed to death out of his navel even if he doesn't bleed to death from the egg membrane. Ask me how I know...

Trust me. He/she will get out okay. You didn't even need to make that big hole. Good you misted though...

I wouldn't even ask if that hole was a bad thing or not....doesn't really matter now....he seems to be doing fine. I think the key here is patience...18 hours is still early yet...he'll get there!! Just give him time....
