I just had one do the same thing (BBS Rocks).....I let everyone else HATCH first, then attempted to help the one that was pipped on the wrong end. You don't want to jeopardize your whole hatch over one egg..... mine actually wound up hatching on his own, but had been pipped for probably 30+ hrs before he came out.

Best of luck.

Post pix later!

It is too soon. There is a sticky somewhere that tells when and how to intervene. I have done so with good results, but not after 45 minutes.

Cripes, I'm a good one to talk.

I put my little guys into lockdown yesterday and no one has pipped and I am ready to help them ALL out.

No, no, BAD Catherine.

(Ok, for those wondering, no I am not serious. Just expressing my anxiety.)

I would not touch it again until morning at the very least. I have been reading a lto fo hatching stories and 3 days to hatch is not out of the question. it has not been 24 hours since your original post. thought I woudl add that since I am sure you are loosing all track of time by now. I know it seems like forever. just like labor and delivery. I say the blood is a sure sign you are jumping the gun. you still may have to help in the end but it is still to soon. I will add that hatching is instinctive and nobody knows what drives that instinct. if you compromise that drive factor then it is all up to you. I know that doesn't help since it looks like it quit trying to hatch. sort of like labor getting stronger then slacking off again. maddening but don't let your worries get the better of you. since all the other eggs are just starting to pip this one is not out of line for where it is at. I woudl continue to use that as a way to measure it's progress. so if everyone else is making the final push and this one is still just your big hole. then it is time to help out. jsut some of my guiding posts if I where there. hope something helps.

Thank you katy, do you think he can still get out even tho i kind of made and awkward hole for him?

Only time will tell, but it is still very early yet. 24+ hours from pip to hatch is not unusual at all. I don't assist any chick to hatch. I know that seems cold hearted to some people, but I think more chicks die from too early of "being helped" than die from taking too long to hatch. Generally the less we mess with them the better.

+1

Glad it made it, hopefully opening and such didn't compromise the other expensive pips.
