My birds aren't tame and alert the whole time. Maybe that's why they need to rest.
I use cheap electrical tape around the ankles.

Maybe you need to be more hands on with your birds when raising?

I would use tape, except my birds are able to put their feet into the cone to try to flip out if I don't tie to a small tree by rope.

Finally done. Here's the video.

Great video. 10” or 12” zip ties work well for tying legs if you have any. String is perfectly fine as well but I’ve found zip ties to be easier.
