I would build it with the nest boxes attached so they do not take up any floor space in the coop! They will like the extra floor space. Where are you located? We have a nice coop all built and ready to go for sale and it would be great for 3 birds.

Thanks eveyrone for your replies. I'm not worried about sound. It's more aesthetics that will be the issue. So keeping a low profile visually will be key.

If there are any other comments you can make that will save me aggrivation or wishing i had done things in another way, that would be great appreciated.

Question about raising the nest box up a foot- will chickens walk under a 1' space? Mine are just 6 weeks right now, so obviously at this point they will... but a full grown Buff Orpington, for instance? Is 1' tall enough to justify the extra construction?
