Expired yogurt?

"Even worse after June 9th"

I just fed my chickens yogurt that was expired over a week and a half and the chickens still went crazy for it, they stuck their heads in the container and lapped it up. It didn't smell bad and there was no mold. I think I also ate a spoonful the day before and I was fine.

With foods that are lacto-fermented, you KNOW when it is bad. It grows mold and smells horrible. The sell-by date on yogurt is the date that the amount of live bacteria can be guaranteed. After that, yogurt usually goes bad slowly. You have a bit of leeway there. I'd be more concerned about anything that has been pasteurized after fermenting.

I actually ate a yogurt cup that was SEVERAL months past expiration yesterday. It was sealed and when I opened it it was perfectly fine, same consistency, no bad small and no mold. I'm still here and not sick!
