Explaining Chicken Math

I'm using this line of thinking too. We don't have nearly enough color... Lol

Well, I was referring to feather color but my husband informed me tonight that he and DS want blue and green eggs so we're adding to the flock to expand our egg color as well.
Sooo... 3-4 chickens bc that's what the coop at Sam's would hold turned into 6 chickens bc that was the tsc minimum which then turned into 7 chickens (6 pullets and a roo) bc I knew I could, which equals 9 chickens. Haha
I love chicken math!

Haha! I want colorful eggs too! I currently get dark brown and pinkish brown eggs. In a few months I will also be getting white. Crossing fingers one of other two babies will lay blue /green since I've wanted them for awhile! Also have 4 day old baby that may lay olive eggs. If all else fails, my duck lays a bluish green egg! Haha!

Every EE that I bring home turns into a boy. I will keep trying! Fingers crossed for the new little ones.

Thats not necessarily a bad thing when I comes to chicken math. You should only count 50% of them when adding to your flock, and subtract 100% when you remove them. Heck you may be at a deficit and may not even have a single chicken.:cd

Sooo, we went to get 2 chicks but brought home 6. I mean, when buying easter eggers you never know what color eggs they'll lay, and 50% will be male. Add a cute cochin and blrw to the mix and, yeah, two birds equals six. Rofl!

Plus baby chick needs a friend equals 7. Yes, we turned around and went back to the swap. We doubled our flock in one day. Yikes. Lol!
