Explaining Chicken Math

ok,
I had already posted my chicken math story, and it wasnt funny or sweet. I was just sad, some really bad circumstances. So here goes my new and improved (happier) chicken math story!

I started out wanting to start a very diversified flock of about 12 birds. Well It has turned into:

1 Golden polish (never even wanted that breed) who I nursed back to health when she didn't fair well coming through the mail, and I fell in love with her and named her Chance
2 red stars that i did order named Mertle and Bitsy
1 LBLeghorn male which I wanted for my mom, she likes a roo with lots of color named Colonel
1 white cochin named popcorn
1 slw named sparkle (yeah i have kids naming them lol)
1 blue andalusian named Helen (she reminds me of my blue haired Grandma who passed away years ago)
2 Leghorn females named thelma and louise (they stick together)
1 white silkie roo named Julien

9 Mille Fleur in the bator from a neighbor

6 silkies in the mail to arrive soon from a fellow BYCer (Thank you Brown Chicka Brown Cow and CJWalden)

so that is how my small flock of 12 turned into possibly 25 chickens!! I am now a chicken math lover!!!

Check the list. You need to get some chickens since you do not have any.
Ain't math wonderful.

Wow I need another coop and a bigger run because chicken math is getting ready to happen even more!!

Well, ha. I'd planned to not get any chickens this year. Well, I got a great deal on Silkie eggs for the kids. So I have a dozen in the bator. A friend gave me a dozen of her eggs, but I'm not sure about viability on any of them, becuause they dont look quite right, but I'm giving them a chance anyway. I stumbled across a deal for some SFH ebgs, what i want for myself, and ordered those too. I have like 12-18 of those arriving later this week. And I am waiting for a local Silkie breeder to get back to me....she has chicks now. I might buy 6, just in case the eggs don't hatch, and because she has cuckoo ones! We could be up to about 35 or so in the next 7 to 25 days.
