Extra Niacin? Treats??

All of mine, even the grown ones, get crumbles. We don't really have a way to feed them where the cats and dog can't get to it, so we have to mix cayenne pepper in it. With pellets, it would just settle to the bottom and not do any good. With crumbles, though, it stayed evenly mixed. ;)

Thats a great idea about the cayenne, maybe it would teach my dogs not to eat their feed.

It trained our puppy and our 4 barn cats to not eat the chicken feed. I can even go without it now, and they won't eat it. I put it in every few days to reinforce it, b/c all they have to do is smell the cayenne and the move on.

I am going to try this. My Papillon has put on some extra pounds since she has added duck food and poop to her diet.

So no ill effects for chickens or ducks?

Birds cannot taste cayenne, so it doesn't bother them, and my eggs taste fine. I've had no complaints from the people that buy my eggs. The meat birds we butchered last summer ate it also, and the meat tasted normal. :) They do sneeze once in a while, but otherwise they don't seem to be bothered by it at all.

I buy both powdered and flake cayenne (and put both in at the same time and either shake or stir it in) in big containers at Sams, which you can find in the spice/seasonings aisle.
