Extreme Couponing Show**Update pic heavy**

Same here! I got stuck behind a woman like that once who had absolutely PILES of coupons. It was early in the morning and there were only two registers open. The poor checker was frantic, folks were piling up in line, and I wanted to knock her down with my cart! And I am normally a peaceful, lawabiding kinda folk!

I do use coupon's but within reason. I don't hoard and I am way to busy to spend anywhere near that amount of time searching and clipping!

And yes jen5680, I'm going to make sure I catch the next episode!

Kroger doubles all coupons $0.60 or less EVERY day and senior citizens (is that politically correct? I'm not one yet) get a 10% discount on Tuesdays........

Publix also doubles up to $0.50 and it senior citizens day is Wednesday. Wednesday is also the day they put out their penny coupon, each week a different item for a penny. This week was a pack of 3 paper towels.

Soo... i'm still TRYING to understand how this works..

Example:
http://www.wggb.com/global/link.asp?L=440968

Say
i want the pillsbury rolls...
HOW... does this really save me money, if i have to buy 2 packages... ?

How are these folks getting all this stuff for free? Or say 20 tubes of tooth paste for $2?
I know, i'm annoying.. i'm just trying to wrap my head around how this REALLY works...

First you almost have to have access to a store that doubles. Second you have to match great coupons w/ sales. and Third, to get the "20 tubes of toothpaste for $2" kind of deals you have to live in a state that does not have sales tax on food and toiletry items.

Say your local store has a sale for Crest toothpaste for $2, and you have a coupon for .75 and your store doubles then you get your toothpaste for .50, and if you have 20 coupons multiply that times 20. (if your coupon was for $1 off then you get it for free, unless your state has sales tax then you get it for the sales tax on the original price) If you have 20 coupons though you have to be prepared to go through the line 20 times b/c most stores only let you do one type of coupon per trip through. (and they won't let you do one crest, one colgate, and one mentadent on one trip it would be one toothpaste w/ coupon at least and double the coupon)

The coupons that make you buy multiple items are the manufacurers way of foiling your savings. You can still save (most times) just not as much and it is only a good deal if you use the product and it won't go bad.

I LOVE coupons - I collect the inserts from my paper, my grandparent's paper, and my mother's paper every Sunday. I don't understand why these people need all that stuff though. I like getting something for free, but 50, 100, or more of the same item for free? No thanks. I really liked the show when I first saw it and I will still continue to watch the new episodes. But, I saw these two links posted on another forum I belong to and they are very convincing:

Why this show is not a reality: http://www.southernsavers.com/2011/04/extreme-couponing-tlc-review-not-a-reality/

lady who was possibly using coupons fraudulently: http://www.jillcataldo.com/node/16258

Yep, just looked at one of those articles. Basically, what she was doing was overwhelming the cashier who was not going to double check the hundreds of coupons and items that were already being bagged up as she scanned the coupoons. Some stores have computer programs that double check for them.
