extremely loud australorp

She starts going "buck, buck, buck, BACOCK," whenever she wants too. It isn't just an egg song. She is SO loud when she does it too. Also she says that REALLY loud bacock 2 times in a row often and 3 times occasionally. It is very loud and I'm wondering if anybody else has a loud australorp.

That sound is usually the sound of something not being right (i.e. danger). My chickens do it anytime they see local wildlife that they haven't seen before, might eat them, or HAS eaten them before (I have a fox problem). They also do it when a new adult comes into their coop (but not kids). And they alert each other when a cat walks nearby, but then realize how small my cats are compared to themselves, and don't start the other noise.

And of course, my bantams do it when they are laying an egg, probably because it hurts.

So if your chicken is trying it, see if there may be an animal (or person) walking near them when the chickens are out. If she does it when only YOU are around, work on getting her to trust you with treats.

she just mainly does it when she's just randomly walking around my square bale stack.

Mine will do that when they want to be let out of their run or sometimes if one gets "lost" in the yard.

Have same issue with one of my 6 chickens. ONLY ONE! I have been trying to ask about this here too several times but no one has an explanation

At this point i have been trying to rehome mine because I live in city and I feel that my neighbours will only take it for so long. She is really really bad noise wise

My Australorp is the same! SHE IS SO LOUD! She often gets hoarse.

No idea why - probably just her nature. Just like some people are talkers/loud, so are some chickens! It doesn't bother me (Most of the time...) And I don't have neighbors to worry about.

Specifically, my Australorp is my noisiest chicken in general. She makes this long dragged out sound like rrraaaaaaarrrrrr rah rah rah rah...and repeat. It's kind of loud and constant too! By far my noisiest bird. I hope not all Astralorps are like this because I have 8 more 12 week olds. They aren't too bad yet though.

Oh great, the cockerel I decided to keep is an Australorp

Actually, I have two Australorp cockerels right now - I hope to find the other one a home soon. Here's hoping it's just the hens with the big mouths, lol.

mine too, extremely loud and annoying for no reason but MUCH louder if there is a reason. I chose an australorp because I read that they were supposed to be of a quiet and tame nature. mine is basically the opposite - noisy, wild and crazy. I too think the neighbours will only tolerate for so long as no doubt all the houses around can clearly hear it.
