I just returned from the store and am unable to find three of my little call ducks. The three that are missing are the best fliers. The other two are here and unharmed. I’m extremely concerned and worried they landed somewhere far and can’t find their way home. Any advice? Please help, I’m really freaking out...

Have you tried putting mealworms if that’s a favorite treat in a container and shaking it calling for them?
Thanks for your help! I think I panicked too soon. I brought them back home. Funny enough they were swimming in my neighbors pool... :lau:oops::bow

Panic Mode..... All part of being a Newbie Duck Parent. :) :wee Cute Little Babies you have ! :celebrate
Aww, thanks so much. I guess I’m just not used to having ducks that can fly somewhere... I’ve raised jumbo Pekins my whole life and they can’t even get an inch off the ground... :lau I guess I’ll just have to factor that in next time they take off... the funny thing is Splash the alpha male left with the two girls and took them to the tropical oasis that is my neighbors pool and left the other two males in the dark about his plans!:lau:gig

We have two Wild Mallard hens, Miss Piggy and Porky who can both fly off very easily if they wanted to leave the rest of their flock. I would like to think they are happy where they are at and don't want to fly off . :) Very real possibility if they wanted to fly the Coop ! Sounds like you need a bigger and better pool, Please keep us posted ! Silly little Ducks! :wee

Thanks a lot for the help. I have an above ground pool that they could venture into but they haven’t found it yet. I’ll definitely do keep you posted and post more videos in my duck tv thread... I’ve not been on in a while I’ve had a lot going on... I lost my little bunny Mocha to a stroke, she was supposed to be four because according to the shelter she was 6 months old; however the vet told us she was actually eight years old! We just thought she was a larger baby... I’m also thinking about adding a Koi pond so we’ll see how that goes with the ducks. I just hope those rascally ducks don’t fly off again to the pool... they love to fly laps around my home every day but always seem to return home so far. I considered clipping their wings but since they are free range during the day that is their only defense and I’d hate to take it away from them. Good luck to you with Miss Piggy and Porky
as well! :D

I always love a happy ending! Glad your babies are safe. I always panic when anyone is missing for even a few minutes. It's the down side of letting them free range and be themselves. My runner ducks aren't fliers, my American Buff geese can't stay airborne for more than a second or two, and MOST of my chickens don't fly. I don't clip the ones that do because, like you, I want them to be able to escape predators if they need to.

So, Splash just wanted a little private time with the ladies? A romantic romp in a secluded pool? What a Romeo!
