Eye injury and possible infection? What do I do til I find a vet?

I let my chickens out today and one's eye was swollen shut. She's acting normal so I didn't notice anything wrong at first but then I noticed what looks like puss and mud where her eyeball should be!

Any tips on first aid until I can find a vet? I don't know what could have caused it.

She probably got pecked good. Use saline to soften the crud, get the eye washed and open to flush. Then put triple antibiotic w/o pain killer or Vetrimycin (sp?) eye drops. She may or may not have permanent eye damage. You'll find out as you go.
