I just got back in from feeding my ducks and I've got a problem I'm hoping someone can help me with. I noticed that one of my Khaki Campbell drakes (we have two) has something wrong with his eye. He was keeping it closed and when I picked him up, it looked like he has a clear, bubbly discharge around his eye. The eyeball itself looks like it has a little film over it, but other than that, looks normal when he has it opened. Could this be an eye infection? If so, is it contagious to the rest of the flock? What should I do? We have some Veterycin drops that we've had to use in the past on some of our other flock, so we will probably isolate the drake and put some of these drops in until it looks like it clears up, unless there is something else we should do for this. Any advice would be helpful.

In the past, we have had some eye problems in our flock, but they were not infections. One of our chickens had her eye pecked by another chicken (she's now totally blind in that eye) and one of our Pekin ducks had her eye pecked (we're thinking by a chicken) as well. In her case, her eyeball had almost completely disappeared into her head and her eye was bloody, but now her vision seems fine after treatment. I originally thought that this new eye problem was also an injury, but it doesn't look like anything I've dealt with before. That's why I was thinking infection.

Can ducks peck each others' eyes like chickens can? The reason I'm asking is because I noticed my two drakes fighting each other yesterday, and this one was being picked on by the dominant drake today after I noticed his eye.
