eye sealed shut

chick with eye sealed shut. should I worry?

Is it a newly hatched chick?
I'd try and flush it's eye out with water. It might've gotten something in there.

I would try to wipe it GENTLY with a warm wet wash cloth.....to try to get it opened again. Is there crusty stuff "glueing" it shut? Is she sneezing, coughing, wheezing, labored breathing? You might want to seperate her from the rest...if she has any of those symptoms.

Acting a little meloncoly, but no oozing, sneezing ect... Did openn it once, so I know eye is still in there. She is 2-3 weeks old.

What about that eye ointment the vets use for puppies and kittens? I had to use some on one of our hedgies it worked great and only cost a couple dollars.

I had a chick with an oozing eye. She is one week old. I thought her eye was gone it was so bad. I posted on this board and Terramycin Eye Ointment twice a day was suggested after I cleaned it a little. I bought it at Tractor Supply for about $10. It comes in a tiny yellow box and they had it locked up. I put it on her eye twice and the next day when I got home from work her eye was not only there, it looked great. I think she would have lost the eye if not for this board.
