Eerie stood. “I’m gonna go see the chicks.” She said, leaving Rose and Fern to chat. She strode over to the chicks. “Are you guys okay?” She said quietly. “I’m sorry about your sister.”

Rose watched Eerie go with satisfaction. Fern had just stopped tucking in a dead leaf under her wing, to also see Eerie leave.
Eerie sighed. “Of course you’re not okay. Sorry. Want to play mossball to take your mind off it? I’ll play with you.”
