"That would be fun. I wonder if I will do it again anytime soon." She shrugged.Eerie shrugged. “I hope so.”
"So cute! Fern, I think you will be a great mother." She said contentedly.Fern kept the chick tucked under her as it pushed out of the shell. She nuzzled it with her cheek, helping to fluff it up.
“I know.” Said Fern happily. The chick was silver-colored, with a creamy underbelly and darker gray chipmunk markings on her back. It was a little female, with a pea comb and bluish legs. She was beautiful. All fluffy, she cheeped at her mother and climbed onto her back, snuggling into her feathers. Her bright, silvery feathers stood out from Fern’s warm brown so much that fern realized, with a pant of sadness, that once the chick was old enough, she would come to the realization that Fern was not her genetic mother."That would be fun. Ruby walked closer to Fern and her chick. "She's very beautiful. Any name ideas yet?" She asked Fern.“I know.” Said Fern happily. But for now, they were happy together.
“Come say hi to her!” Fern said to Eerie and Ruby. The chick peered out from the fluff on her back. “Isn’t she beautiful?”
Eerie walked right up to the little chick, examining her closely. She was beautiful. What a special little bird.
“I think I’m gonna call her Moon.” Said Fern, overcome with joy. (I named her after you, @_Moon_!)Ruby walked closer to Fern and her chick. "She's very beautiful. Any name ideas yet?" She asked Fern.
Ruby was sitting in her usual spot again. "Yay! Go, babies, go!! Wait, has your messed-up egg been developing, Fern?"(I forgot about that one!)“I think I’m gonna call her Moon.” Said Fern, overcome with joy. (I named her after you, @_Moon_!)
*skipped a few hours*
Fern felt another one of her eggs move under her. “Oh-that’s my very first I laid out of the clutch. It’s pipped, too!”
“I’m not sure. But it’s not cracked and smelly, so…I have my hopes up. I thought I heard a heartbeat from it.”Ruby was sitting in her usual spot again. "Yay! Go, babies, go!! Wait, has your messed-up egg been developing, Fern?"(I forgot about that one!)
