'Oh my. The kitchen is half gone already and the humans seem to be trapped!' Genevieve gasped as she peered through a window. She quickly tore down one wall of the flimsy building and crawled in, gently shoving the fragile humans out through the opening.

Gail could hear shouts of terror, fading into the distance.

'Is that a DRAGON??!! I think I'm hallucinating, Peter.'

'It won't let us go!'

'The KITCHEN! I spent so long on it!!'

Gail could smell smoke seeping into wherever she was, and tried to keep her mouth closed. She had to breathe eventually though, and coughed when all she inhaled was a lungful of dank, grey smoke.

Genevieve frantically searched for Gail's scent, ignoring the flames which blackened her tough scales. Then, without further ado, she began tearing at the basement door. "GAIL!" she roared, "Call out loud if you can hear me!"

Gail felt the smoke invading her mind. It seemed to cloud it up somehow, but she managed to make out a crack of light in her peripheral vision. She tried to move, but found herself tied down with something sharp. She tried to call out for help, but all that came was a small croak, then the fumes wafted into her again.

Struggling to maintain consciousness, she remembered the last words of the people before they left her. 'The darn thing won't stop struggling, I'm going to have to tie it down. Peter, will you get me the razor wire honey...'

Growling, Genevieve tore to basement door down and shoved herself through. There was Gail! Genevieve hurried over to the little hatchling and gently picked her up. "Don't worry, we'll be out of here in a few moments. I'll untie you when we're outside."

Gail felt someone moving her. Her mind was hazy though, and she couldn't make sense of any direction. 'Ack...' she croaked, trying to speak. She coughed and large puff of smoke emanated from her mouth. 'Are... you... Gen...e...' she hung her head as it hurt very badly, and everything went black.

Genevieve carried Gail out of the burning house and transported her to a nearby stream. Then she began slicing through Gail's ropes with her sharp talons.

Gail felt herself drifting across some kind of current. It was a cool current and seemed to be trying to take her somewhere with a strength hidden beneath its calm surface.

She jolted awake as the water gushed past her with alarming velocity. 'Ahhh...'

'I believe so, unless you are a spirit who's invading my mind in unconsciousness,' Gail answered, feeling the water bring her back to her senses. She could make out trees above her, and the burning building in the distance.
