wow, thats terrible, why would anyone do that? you would think they would have realized what they are saying/doing and/or be embarressed by it, especially after the OP confirmed it wasnt personal and told them to stop but i guess not since they kept it up. wow, some people i swear...

People just do not "get" the meaning of the word PUBLIC. And, they don't care if their private issues are best kept public.
Example 1: A woman I went to highschool with (twenty-some years ago) posted about her daughter being date raped the night before. I am all about educating the public, using your own experience. HOWEVER, this was not about sharing info to be helpful. She wanted to shame her daughter's attacker by revealing this to people in their social circle - Yikes! And, this was her daughter's trauma she was throwing out for public consumption.
Example 2: I am acquainted with a hard-parying professional couple in their 30s. They routinely Blackberry about what & how much they are drinking. Recently, they broke up on FB.

Hello!?! Aren't we adults?

Nope, not adults.

Frankly I'm surprised by the amount of private information people put out on the internet.

As for profanity laced rants, saw that this weekend at Ikea. Someone objected to another person's parking for loading. Mind you there were plenty of spaces and the said loading took less than 5 minutes. All kinds of kids around, all kinds of bad nasty words flying around. ARGHHH!!!!

All I remember when I see things of this nature, is that poor little girl in St. Louis area who committed suicide because the MOTHER of a girl she went to school with got on there impersonating her daughter and told her the world would be a better place without her and she just go and kill herself. THIS WAS A MOTHER!! I was heartbroken over that, and cannot for the life of me remember what happened to the mother legally, but I think she was let off almost totally free. I remember she had to go to California and stand trial, because of something . . .but after that the news sort of dropped off about it and I never did really know the outcome. It was sad, tragic, and totally irresponsible and criminal.

I see things on Facebook, (and I will be honest, I get on maybe once every other week to confirm or deny a friend, and that is it), that embarrasses me to no end for the person who is posting it. I know a woman and her daughter who are into it tooth and nail over a best friend this daughter has. . .the dau. is knocking 40, so mom!!! Time to get over it. They honestly spend more time blocking each other and then making up and unblocking than anyone I have ever seen in my life . . .over silly petty stuff.

I was talking with my broker's wife the other day at the office about being on the computer too many hours a day (I don't, I do the appraisals, but that is business and check BYC maybe 50 times a day to see what is shakin' but other than that I am off of it, other than checking and responding to emails) Anyway, remember when we use to talk about never having any free time BEFORE the internet . . .how do we find the time to be on the computer, whether its chatting, emailing, facebook, my space, twitter or whatever . . .what did we give up to find all this time? That has always just fascinated me, because every one I know for the past 20 years always has said they haven't enough hours in the day to get it all done, but now we can spend hours a day on the computer and we STILL complain we never have any time. Just a thought.

Sorry, didn't mean to get on my soapbox!!

Why be sorry? Maybe, just MAYBE, we can get ONE person to THINK before posting harmful, hurtful, or just ridiculously personal information.
I have a child, now 26, who is banned from ever touching a computer at my house. Has been banned since she was 17 because of inappropriate posts from MY computer. I don't care how old she is or will be, she will NEVER get on my computer again.

Duh! That's why I'm NEVER running for office. 80% of everything I've ever written will come back to haunt me. If I ever have kids, they will be so embarrassed!

Don't post anything about work---period the end.

Bit confused myself:

We have the facebook OP who posted some number

We have the husband of the OP (who started this thread) that made some responce to the number posting

And then we have a second responder to the facebook OP who went ballistic

After seeing all that, ups-downs, slips and rips--- they still ain't no reason for me to need facebook.

Get enough drama right here in the mother in law, father in law, sister, husband, momma, daddy, my babie's uncle's sister's husband stuff.

Not to defend FB really but all of my friends seem to have ALOT of fun with it. My neice is very into current events and we all like to read her posts/links intead of listening to the news

She has traveled around the world and keeps up with friends in several languages...it's fun to watch. I'm able to let my whole family in several states, see pictures of my chickens- if and when they want. Alot of my friends spend way too much time (their admission) farming, or cooking or zookeeping but hey we all do something like that. I spend way too much time on BYC, according to my husband anyway

I think it's sorta like real life, those that have drama in their lives have drama on their FB page. (oh wait, I did hide one friend that kept posting the "weird" stuff he and his new, much younger girlfriend did, out of sight out of mind!)
