Facebook--pros and cons

Personally I think Fb is great.... try it for yourself .. I do however have strict privacy controls and NEVER give out my telephone number or Email address on the privacy setting it is "for me" only... go on and enjoy yourself. At the end of the day if your not happy with FB you just come away from it... the same can be said for any social site....

Don't put anything on there you don't want your boss or your momma to know!

I use it to keep up with family far away that I don't see often at all.

Friends from here that I play Farmville with

People I grew up or when to school with.

I left home when I was 17, and my family moved from the area shortly after- so I lost contact with everyone I ever went to school with. I recently found one on facebook and have now connected with a heap of them...Even my first crush!!! I even wrote about my crush when I sent him a friends request..." Could it be the same "John Smith " I had a crush on back in grade five...??? " I was a little embarrassed to write that... But he was the only boy liked back then...The only one who didnt have boy germs...So now 27 years later...I have been able to catch up on where he went to high school and how his life has ended up.

I also found out there is a planned school reunion coming up...I would have missed out if I didnt start my face book page 6 months ago.

My daughter on the other hand..only started hers about a month ago- and has become addicted to "liking" Everything... It can be a bit hard to get her to stop chatting with her friends when she is supposed to be doing homework on the computer.

I like facebook, being able to talk with friends and keep in contact, because when you live out of town you dont get to see people as often as you would like too. on the other hand, when i cant go into town to see friends, i can always go out and talk to my chickens! lol

I loved all of my FB friends, but after the 400the some odd friend request, I decided I just couldn't keep up with it anymore and deleted my account.

DW wishes I were still on it to 'monitor' the kids, I just got tired of it.

I am a rather private person, so I have a love/hate relationship with Facebook. For months I thought I'd just close my account because of some of Facebook's policies. The more social you are, the more you will like it, I think. I have found it awkward to be "friended" by complete strangers or people with whom I have no interest in sharing my personal life. Of course, you can just ignore those requests. I'm not into games and I have found you can also hide the constant Mafia Wars, Farmville, Pioneer, etc. things that pop up. I got on Facebook because a friend of the family a few states away is on there, plus my sister, nieces and nephews, etc. That keeps me checking in periodically. I have kept mine below 60 friends -- I only have one person whom I don't actually know because I friended her thinking she was the relative of a relative. I'm not into adding people I don't actually know.

I got my facebook page in order to keep in touch with my grown up kids, they post pictures of their families and vacations etc. I've since been able to look up old friends and find new FB-friends from all over the world with "odd" interests. I prefer an eclectic mix, after all who wants to hang out with someone just like ones self---you never learn anything new. I even got some "chicken" friends now! (my profile website links to my facebook, same avatar). You see, even an old curmudgeon can learn.

Don't play ANY of the games...Can you say CRACK!!! CRACK IS WACK!!!

Other than that...I hear that Jesus Loves me, just 'bout every other hour...
