Facebook users .....you might want to know this.

As far as I know, it's a legit story. I've been hearing about it on NPR (National Public Radio) and consider them to be a pretty reliable source. I recently tested it myself by searching obscure info about myself that I know is only on Facebook. I found my photo and direct links to my page even though I am opted out of a public page.

The biggest complaints that I have heard is that people want to "opt out" of this, but have to go through a 30 page act of congress to do so, and it's apparently very confusing. I can't speak of the opt out process firsthand, because I only put on Facebook what I'm willing to have the world see.

Anyone who has private info on Facebook or any other networking site is crazy if they think it's private.

Seriously, not to go off topic, but debiraymond, I just HAVE to tell you: Every time I read one of your posts, I just crack up. I hate to take credit from you, but it's that cat! It absolutely makes me laugh out loud whenever I look at it, it's so ridiculous! I just have to know, is it your cat? How did the picture occur? God, that kills me.... (Okay, I apologize, back to privacy issues on Facebook....)

It's not my cat. Way back when the earth was cooling people sent me pics of anything polydactyl (multiple digits), and I just loved that one SO MUCH it stayed put. My avatars used to creep people out......

Exactly. Don't put anything anywhere that you don't want others to see, and you'll never have anything to worry about.

Facebook is notorious for constantly changing its privacy policy and not telling people. That is why they are having to face congress now. And yes, nothing is private on the internet.
