I just noticed yesterday that a few of my hens have black marks, runny looking, on there faces and combs have black speckles. I recently treated them and the coop for mites. Could it be related or something else?
I’m in Australia.
Please help!

Are they running into some fencing or being chased? The dark marks looks like injuries. Fowl pox can sometimes cause dark scabs, but the pictures don’t look like that. Clearer pictures might help.

I haven’t seen them being chased at all. 2 of my hens are broody and grumpy but not aggressive towards the others. Have had 1 soft shell egg per day last few days... always broken. Apart from that they are acting and eating as normal.

It’s possibly just something from the garden... they free range every evening and we have blackberries around the place, apparently with ripe fruit at moment. I’ll keep an eye on them and try not to freak out just yet!
