Fair price for duckling Muscovy

Day? couple day olds? that is quite high. I have sold older birds for 15$ but they were several months old, usually with scovies the older the more pricey. YOunger ones? well, i have bought those for like 7$ and then even less.. it definitely varies i realize.

As for sexing? very unusual, there are sex linked chocolates.. but otherwise most cannot tell till a few weeks old, the more you see the more you get the look however.
I don't think it's high if they are quality birds.

If it's just plain old pet quality, that is quite high.

For day olds? you can't tell quality then. For older birds, yes.. definitely not unusual, i paid a good fee for a several month old duck last fall. For ducklings from good lines you may get a bit higher but not 15$. Perhaps, differing markets though, for sure not here.

You breed from top quality with much higher chances of the offspring reaching that standard.

Hatching eggs from show breeders are quadruple what they are from those who are not.

For example.. My barred rock chicks have a much higher chance of reaching show potential than the chicks you buy from a hatchery.. therefore you pay the higher price. They are much higher price once they are mature and are show potential.

Muscovies are quite common. I'm not sure I'd pay $15 for a day old, but if it's a more uncommon breed from show lines, for sure I would.

OK, since this discussion kept going, I got curious and decided to check hatchery prices.

Country Hatchery:
$13 each for day old chocolates (their most expensive)
to
$8.50 for white

Murray McMurray
only sells hatching eggs, and those are $6.25 each for one dozen, but it wasn't clear to me if that included shipping or not.

JM Hatchery
$6.00 for white day old

I charge 15 bucks for a Swedish flower hen chick. Muscovy are very common in VA. Ducklings are about five bucks here.. .

Any suggestions for where to find Muscovy ducklings at those prices? A lot of the big "chicken" selling sites I've looked at don't have 'scovies or else require too large numbers for me to get. Other than online, I'm in Virginia so would love to know anyone in general area who might sell!
