I see. I hope that's not the case with her, she is only a little over 1 year old. But I have read that Production breeds can wear their little bodies out faster than Heritage breeds so there is definitely that possibility. If that's the case she will just go into retirement early, my chickens are my pets and I will love her regardless. As long as there isn't anything seriously wrong with her, I'm ok with it. I have seen a large increase in the amount of fairy eggs the past couple weeks from my girls too. Not sure which one is laying them since I have 10 laying hens, but almost everyday I get 1 fairy egg from the boxes and Im starting to get concerned. What ever happened with your girl?
Unfortunately, my girl ended up passing away in October. Her fairy eggs turned into lash eggs, then she ended up having crop issues... turns out all were a result of egg yolk peritonitis.
Not to say that's the case with all who lay fairy eggs, that's just what happened with my girl.
