Fall crochet block swap, sign ups until Oct 15th

I'm still here, working on square #28. When all 35 are made, I'll select 18 to send.

I'm wanting to make 30 total, 18 for the swap (all finished w/ that) and the rest to complete a 5x6 afghan. I still have about 10 to go for the 30 total, I've been side tracked w/ the summer jewel squares, I've been quilting them into cro/quilted squares. I am so thrilled w/ how that is turning out, so much better then I even imagined. I plan to do the same w/ these fall blocks too.

This is the back side of the quilt pieced squares and the top side of the quilted afghan. The quilting is done w/ a yarn needle and yarn. When I join the fabric pieces I'll do the same folded over and zig zagged seam as I did in the block itself, then crochet the border to each crocheted square to meet. So this whole side will be all crocheted.




and this side will be total peiced w/ fabric and quilted w/ yarn.

I just scored 1 skein of Chocolate yarn at the NE Wal Mart in El Paso because the clerk had someone trade it for another color and remembered me! I was walking through and she chased me down with it! She said she's been holding it in hiding all week hoping to see me.

That's it. I'm moving to New Mexico.

Right now, gas lines here on Long Island are HOURS long. My daughter and her boyfriend just headed out in the dark and cold to try to get gas for the generators because they're firefighters and have priority status. We hope there's gas left when they get there.

Day 5 without power.

I'm working on a hurricane afghan - traditional granny squares edged in black with random scrap colors in the middle. So far they're beautiful. Can't wait to finish it. When I do, I'll post pictures.

They're saying power should be on within the next few days. But things in my neighborhood are pretty hairy. We'll see. Fortunately, the Hess stations are giving priority to firefighters, and my daughter and her boyfriend just brought home an additional 10 gallons for the generator.
