Rancher... love your squares... that pattern is beautiful both single and multi-colored... great choice!

Newest square addition... to "leaf" or not to "leaf", that is the question. Thinking it is a nekked tree...

I've loved all the squares so far--they're going to make such a nice afghan!

What are Winter colors?
Okay, so i was wondering... is someone planning on hosting a Winter Granny Square Swap or is it too late in the year by the time these ones get sent out or too busy with Christmas stuff?

And just to be clear, i am not suggesting I host one, lol. I am way too forgetful for that. Just wondered if anyone was thinking of doing one. I would love to do a winter-colored swap this year(dec/jan anyway), maybe 6" granny's though.

well around here it would be snow White snow and yellow snow.

Ice blue, crystal clear, Perhaps winter designs?

Google these and you'll get the idea.

SMALL WINTER BURST 6" SQUARE

WINTER STAR 6" SQUARE

just a suggestion mind you.

I like the idea of a winter swap also. Keep me in mind if someone takes up the gauntlet and decides to be the host. I like the idea of the winter design but would hate for anyone to exclude themselves because they do not think they could do a particular pattern... but, whatever you all decide... I'm for it.

I am off to Louisville to visit my daughter and granddaughter for the weekend. Sure hope you all have a fabulous weekend!

The way I see it there are plenty of just plain grannies that can be modified to be wintery. Also there are plenty of Youtubes and this might be a way to learn a new thing. Though no one should stay out because they don't think they're not good enough. They simply must swallow their pride and stay involved. This is not a contest after all. Is it?

I am willing to take any squares the hostess deems unacceptable with out comment.

If the hostess wants to make it 4" or 6" and each do double or triple the number of members that would work. Smaller squares might make it easier for beginners.

Have a nice day,

Rancher

This was my first swap because I have been too self critical to participate. It is very scary - BUT it is so much FUN!!!!

I could not have picked a better, kinder bunch of people - you are all just wonderful ... AND incredibly talented!! I cannot wait to get my squares because I get a little bit of each of you with them. And all the new patterns and thoughts - these are all just wonderfuly creative. And that energy translates. How could I ever have hoped to get improve if I never dared to stretch beyond my comfort zone?

I guess if it's cold and snowing you may wish for 70 degrees, but my husband and I are playing Father Christmas (and I'm spinning) at a museum this weekend and that costume will be extremely warm for these temperatures. It just doesn't feel much like Christmas in Kansas when it's this warm. But it is -so we will go be merry anyway!

I would love the opportunity to participate in a winter swap. And then a spring and then ...

what can I say - I'm hooked! hee hee

My two cents on the winter idea: blues, white, dark green (think pine trees), grey. Yummy.

I was thinking last night of doing an Irish-y sort of afghan for my daughter's boyfriend. But not the usual fisherman thing (I bore easy). I was thinking of doing a series of squares all in the off-white fisherman type yarn. Sort of an Aran patchwork. One of the books I got from Hamilton books is a collection of hundreds of square designs.

Because it's not like I'm involved in about 100 other projects right now. I guess I'll sleep when I'm dead!

Oh no they stole my edit button!

I love the idea of white, grey, blue and dark green. Also I like the flexibility of fancy or plain squares for a number of reasons. That being said, I'm travelling this Winter and don't yet know when I leave, where I go or what kind of transportation I'll have, so I'm going to have to limit my crochet projects/commitments. If I can manage it, I'll participate as a donor and just make as many squares as I can. I'll have my computer with me, so will probably be able to be in touch.
