Wow you guys sure do have flying crochet hooks!!!!   :bow   This is certainly a swap I wouldn't want to get behind on.  I do have 10 squares made, but they aren't complete.  I am making squares first then going back and adding the trees to all the blocks at once.

I may need some medication though, this swap isn't even finished, I still have squares coming from a previous swap and was inspired by a new idea for another swap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   :th

(actually 2 ideas but didn't want you guys to send the white wagon after me) lol

Well now I'm interested....what ideas do you have??? :p

One is fighting a bad pinkeye infection and the other has a SEVERE case of it also. They were obviously neglected before we got them so both girls also have some naval ill going on too. They just keep scouring on me though so I've been stressing out trying to figure out what exactly the problem is and how to fix it. I am going to start a different feeding schedule tonight and see how they do with it tomorrow. I just about lost it yesterday, the worse-off girls eye's looked like they were blistering... she was so mad at me after I got new meds in her eyes and stuffed her head into a homemade Sleazy, lol.

Scours is diarrhea, right? If so, and you don't have scours medication, if you have yogurt, plain and unsweetened, it helps a lot with my chickens when they get diarrhea. Also, anti-diarrheal stuff for a large animal... applesauce, or plain apples as long as they don't have too many of them, cooked rice or cooked potatoes and carrots. You might put some electrolytes in their water.

If you have some raw, unpasteurized apple cider vinegar, the organisms in this will help them too. Just put a splash in their water.

I really stress the yogurt when my birds get diarrhea. I know chickens are not cows but diarrhea IS diarrhea. Hope this helps.

NCGrammie glad you found the w/ love brand and on sale even better!

Bleenie that is horrible about your calves, be careful pink eye is highly contageous. I agree w/ Lacy about tx options, but also have no experience w/ calves.

Busy day at work today, but I did manage to get one block crocheted, barely. It is storming so probably going to be a looooooong night too.

Rest assured Swappers, I am washing and sanitizing my hands constantly! I've always got a bottle of sanitizer in my pocket, lol.

Thankfully the girls are looking better tonight. I started adding yogurt last night, I had some probio yogurt in the fridge. Also adding a fresh egg to the milk. I also have changed their feeding schedule so they can get fed more frequently and hopefully that will help with their body condition. I am certain these girls were "dairy discards"... they got sick and they probably figured it wasnt 'cost effective' to fix them. It just blows me away how much people can just not care though. At least they're getting taken care of now :)

I've got babies hatching right now too so I am going to go check on them and then start working on the squares some more!

What are you hatching????

I hatched for the first time several weeks ago, I am hoping to get a few more eggs on my way home from Branson in a couple of weeks and set them, it will be late in the year, I would rather brood outside, but I really want the type I'm getting and it is the best opportunity for me to get them so, winter babies it is.

I ordered some Nittany Wyandotte eggs but only got one chick from those, a very pretty dark Blue. I added some eggs from my flock in with them in since they got pretty smashed up in shipping so there wasn't many eggs left. I incubated only the Wyandotte eggs from my flock, all fertilized by my Buff Laced Roo(avatar picture). I was planning on waiting until i got him seperated with his girls before hatching but i needed some eggs 'for company' in the bator.

The chicks are coming out pretty cute. the first one to hatch from my eggs was a HUGE white chick. I did get a couple that look like they might be Buff Laced though!

I really think this one might be Buff Laced. it's having some belly button issues so it got some Neo on it's butt.

this one is pretty light but still has a buff hue to it but a BIG maybe on laced.

Nittany baby in the back middle... as if it's not obvious, lol.

See the Monster in the middle? that chick is just enormous.
