Falling Down Heights, my daily life

So, I was looking up the genetics for Paint (chicken), and tried to put into a generator what the offspring would look like if I paired him with a Black Sex Link (Rudy) and can't get either one to come up.

Any ideas? I am TERRIBLE at chicken genetics!

Here's a pic of the lovely boy.

I don't know a thing about genetics either. But he's a beauty! :love

What were his parents? What mix is the black sexlink?
Absolutely no idea! He's a bym I got at the sale last month and thought that being Paint he was worth keeping. From what I read, Paint is made by breeding a Dominant White (or a bird having one dominant white gene) to a Black.

The sexlink is from my brilliantly red rooster and a blue barred hen. She's the one that was my lone chick, with that really red face.

So, hidden genes could be anything, lol!

I'm not sure he's a paint, he looks more like a barred mix like what i get occasionally. Let me look at him again and draw up some thoughts.

I stand corrected, my mind is still fuzzy after this morning. He looks like some of my mottled mixes. The sons from Booth, who was a mosaic, looked similar to him. So he might have mottling in his background

Okay, now to look up Mottled! :lau

Another reason I thought he was Paint is because the other three chicks he came with are black. I can only assume they are from the same clutch, so one of the parents had to have a single DW gene. That was my reasoning anyhow.

Guy I got them from was so desperate to sell them he even tossed in the cage all for $20. Figured a hen had a hidden nest and suddenly appeared with chicks.

That's how most of my chicks show up. Mottled is recessive, but some of my mixed males got those same hackle and chest feathers. Might be spangling too though, my spitzhauben mixes also were similar colorwise
