Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Pics
I know, not very active on here lately. Going through a lot of personal bs.

Goslings are doing well, growing like three times the rate of ducklings. They both love being outside and hate me leaving them outside. As soon as I'm out of sight they start crying for me.

Moved four ducklings outside in a see no touch pen in the duck yard.

Have more ducklings hatching. I need to move chicks outside. The maintenance is not helping my stress.

That's about it for now.
Hang in there Wind. :hugs ♥️

The ones I'm getting are chicks, from Performance Poultry:

https://performancepoultry.com/

I'm also considering getting eggs from DC Heritage, which are in Clarendon not far from Shawville:

https://www.dcheritagepoultry.com/

I'm glad I didn't order any of the Partridge ones from Performance, as I found out later they are technically a different breed altogether.

DC Heritage carries Buff and White.
DO NOT order from DC Heritage, search their reviews!! Unscrupulous and practicing animal cruelty based on so many sick chicken posts. For me, I ordered 24 Fertilized Jubilee Orpington eggs - ZERO fertility rate - then when I brought this to their attention, they emailed and admitted to using an old rooster with a low fertility rate. ZERO! They replaced eggs with only 16 Jubilee, 2 lavender and 6 chocolate laced Orpington eggs - 20 were unfertilized again and 3 were clearly NOT Orpingtons at all, 2 may be Legbar, 1 is unknown, they admitted putting random egg in by mistake and the other chick, who knows what it is. $12 an egg. Plus knowing they sent unfertilized eggs, they still charged me an additional $72 for shipping. Looks like they switched from a puppy mill to a chicken mill! Anyone having this experience should also report them to the Quebec Government site for ensuring animal safety and welfare. quebec.ca/en/agriculture-environment-and-natural-resources/animal-health/ensuring-animal-safety-welfare
There is an online form for reports or you can call 1-844-264-6289

Yes, I saw your reply to me in the Canadian thread. I've never ordered anything from them. I was warned off by someone else.

Sometime it's so hard to tell the difference between Muscovy eggs and quacker eggs.

I'd put eggs in the incubator thinking they were quackers. They were supposed to hatch by yesterday. Air cells were still high so I didn't even put them in lockdown yet. Pretty sure they're 'scovies.

Meanwhile, I have all those 'old' eggs which I'd tossed in. Now most of these I'm pretty sure are quackers. If they are, ALL the eggs should be hatching next week.

Apart from that, three blue chicken eggs were also due last weekend. They haven't hatched. It's hard to see through those shells, but I don't think any made it. I have never succesfully hatched one of this hen's eggs.

Had to cull a scovie duckling. :( Worst part is that it was probably my fault for assisting too early. Feel like crap about it.

There are eggs hatching under a broodie. Two so far. I'm afraid that the eggs may be very scattered in incubation though so may have to switch them to the incubator.

Right now there are four or five scovies on eggs, one quacker, and one chicken.

Found one of the babies alone in the very wet yard, so managed to grab it (fast little bugger!) and the one still in the nest and brought them inside. This female is a great brooder, but a terrible mother so I knew I may have to do this.
I have chickens like that

I further grabbed a few eggs from the nest. I tried to mark the eggs, but when she started to sit tight it was more difficult and I eventually gave up. She must have over 20 eggs under her!

I took five, candled them, and put the one developed one in the incubator. I'll snatch another five tomorrow.
