Family chicken needs to breed before death!!!!!!

Everyone I an sorry to say that are family chicken Speedabug is nearing lifes end. We have had him 8 years and not had one chicken that look liked him. We really want another one that looks like him before he goes. He is part of the family and im afraid he want make it him past this winter. We dont know how to breed and I need some advice. I dont even know if he is to old to breed but we do see him top hhens sometimes. We just want another so we can remember him no chicken could ever replace him. Please help I would appreciate any advice.

Well they are bantam mutts. My camara had just stopped working and I didnt have time to download them to my comuter perfect timing right. He is very colorful and looks healthy. I have 2 white hens and I thought if I breed him with them hes feathering will show up in the chick. And congrats Key West Chick for Smokey living that long. I just dont want to take any chances in not getting a Speedy Jr.

I should of word that better sorry. Do you think that he is not to old to breed? How long to I need to leave him with a hen? Can I put 2 hens in there are just one? Sorry for all the questions and thanks for the help.

More than 1 hen is fine, once he does his job, the hen stores the sperm and the fertilization goes from there, usually 2-3 weeks of fertle eggs. As for if he's too old, you won't know untill you try.
