This incubator has to go. I just had a new baby pea today. I have LG with fan. I'm so mad there is no cover on this fan and the baby got the top of his head in it. It has drawn blood. I didn't want to take pea out yet as other two haven't hatched, but it is unsafe this way. If anyone is hatching eggs in this kind of incubator be ware. Just makes me sick. I have put some antibiotic salve on it. Re named him Pecky Pecky as when I hold him he just pecks at my hand and fingernails. He doesn't seem to no he is hurt and quite energetic. Put him in the brooder and he got his foot stuck in the feeder. Maybe he needs a new name like Little Accident.

This has happened to other people before too. It is a really sad thing to have happen to a newly hatched chick and I think it is a major design flaw.

I think I am going to write manufacturer then find some reviews and post my thoughts. A little piece of mesh or plastic strips would of probably prevented this.

Oh Yoda yours are much worse. He has a gouge by his eye and little skin taken off his head but nothing like yours. I just feel so rotten, directing this toward the manufacturer. I have same set up as you do. Ok did they all come out of it ok. Did the feathers grow back ok. I'd take a picture but he is settled in right now and sleeping. I will take one tomorrow. I really can't do anything with the fan now as the others are waiting to hatch and hate to kill them by having the top off. I will set alarm and check every 2 hours.
I sure wish I would of seen your post, before this happened. Thank you for sharing.

I just couldn't get to sleep worrying. Got up got out hot melt glue gun cut some plastic strips and made star over fan. Hope it is enough and heat won't loosen. No use having babies chewed up like hamberger. Pecky was chirping so got pictures.

Is this not sad. Has a little gouge on back of head. Just still makes me sick.

Poor Pecky, what a rough start for such a sweetie. Don't the manufacturer's have experience with live chicks in their bators? How could they NOT anticipate this happening. Shame on them.

Some how in the picture this morning Pecky looks worse. Actually except that he has kind of a bubble on top of eye lid it looks so much better. It is drying and does look like it is already starting to heal. Picture this morning.
