Box fans are the thing. And towards the end of summer I take advantage of the sales an get an extra one.
I use a chainlink gate in place of a solid door for the barn/coop in the summer. I fasten a box fan to the gate with a 20" AC filter between the gate and fan to trap fluff dust so it doesn't get into the fan motor. The fan pulls air in thru the windows at night. And during the day with the gate open the fan blows in the direction of the nests. Works for me.

If the horse sees the fan, for sure he will get mad and say: "hey those feather-balls get one but not me?"--don't want to piss off the horse...well unless hes' got one too, in that case.....never mind.....
Yep! I have one in my coop, and my coop and run are both under plenty of shade however, in Louisiana it stays hot no matter what. But my hens like to sit where the fan can cool them down.
Gotta love those box fans. We use them for the hens, chicks and horses. Mommy (me) gets to use one at night in the bedroom as well. Definetely a great investment.
Very welcome! I read so many good ideas and finally thought I had something I could share.
