Ha - don't worry. There's a fan on every stall. The horses only come in to eat, but in even 30 minutes, they'll be sweating. Houston is a sauna, no two ways about it.

AH< Cypress is near Houston, sauna is an understatement.......YUCK!

I'd like to know about solar fans too. Not for the chickens though (we have electricity out there) but for our rabbits.

It felt like 119* here today, and nasty hot all week. We turned the AC down to kick on at 85* and leaving the fan on all the time. The chickens were panting in the coops at 95*. Yuck.

I have a vent exhaust fan that I salvaged from a fireplace that's on a dimmer switch. That and the shade keep things pretty cool in the coop.

Fans of course!!!!
One for each of the two coops.
Lighting system to keep them warm in the winter.
Automatic drinkers and feeders.
Scraps from the table and alfalfa from the barn.
Life doesn't get much better

Yes to the fans. I have one in the hen house and one in the coop, both of which I run 24/7. It helps the hens and you will see them move in front of it to let it blow their feathers. The fans also help in keeping flies away. It has been so hot that I sort of wish I had invested in a mister. May do that next year if we continue with weather at or near 100 degrees. Lost one hen out of my flock of 14 birds to heat. My birds have the hen house and their coop is so secure that they could spend the night on the roosts and catch the cooler air at night, but they prefer the enclosed house. Loved the idea of the filters. Will take care of that today. Will make fans last longer. Mine are box fans also.
